We are the sons of a butcher named Butch, yes, really. Butch established a real commitment to quality and his customers when he founded Evans Meats & Seafood in 1998. He brought a lifetime of experience and industry knowledge to his company, instilling a culture of hard work, dedication, and integrity that continues to drive the company today. We strive to develop a higher quality of service through pride and confidence in our business and our products. Today, Butch's three sons, Addam, Chase, and Hunter, continue to guide the family business in its endeavours. Addam expanded and enhanced our product offerings, fueling our growth across the Southeast. Chase is at the helm of servicing deliveries to our restaurant and chef partners. And Hunter is our Director of Operations, overseeing all phases of operations.

After 22 years in business, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, causing many restaurants to close their doors. By the middle of March 2020, our sales had dropped by nearly seventy percent from the average week due to the hospitality industry having to close. After a few days of shock and a warehouse full of fresh perishable products, our team pulled together and offered direct-to-consumer curbside sales and sold product out of the back of delivery trucks. It was a total hit, and we quickly realized that many home cooks wanted the same high-quality products that the region's top restaurants and chefs were using, thus the start of our storefront, The Son of a Butcher.

Six years later, the same loyal following has grown into thousands of customers who visit us every week. They make us a part of their weekly grocery routine, bring family in when visiting for the holidays, and share us with friends and family on their social media accounts. More so now than ever, likely another result of the pandemic, people are more engaged in digital connection and interested in knowing their farmers and where their food comes from.
